UNDERSTAND WHAT BROUGHT YOU HERE
What happened, how long the pattern has been operating, what changed, and what accumulated over time.
Sometimes the damage has been building for months or even years. Some couples simply need to give the relationship the proper time, space, and structured safety to give it an opportunity to heal. Once we can help you identify the fractures, we can begin addressing the parts that need the most urgent attention.
Three concentrated private options for couples who need more than another one hour conversation.
Self Help LA couples intensives are concentrated private relationship work for couples when one hour is not enough. Instead of a standard appointment, you get an extended protected block of time with a Self Help LA practitioner to understand the history, the pattern, and the decisions in front of you. Intensives are available at the Downey and Santa Ana offices, serving couples from Downey, Whittier, Pico Rivera, Santa Ana, and Orange County, and online across California where the format supports it.
When the pattern has been repeating for months or years, the problem is rarely that the two of you have not talked enough. The problem is that the conversation keeps happening inside the same pattern. Concentrated time gives us room to slow it down, understand both people, and see what keeps recreating the damage.
Repeated conflict that never resolves.
Communication breakdown, barely speaking, sleeping in separate rooms.
A relationship at a breaking point.
Betrayal changed the relationship and neither of you knows how to move.
Separation or divorce is being discussed out loud.
One of you keeps pursuing while the other has shut down.
Trust has collapsed and the same issue keeps circling without resolution.
If You Continue Interacting the Same Way, You Continue Recreating the Same Damage.
Since 2009
Helping people create emotional and behavioral change.
The M.I.N.D. Method™ guides how we recognize patterns, triggers, meanings, protective responses, behaviors, and the interaction between two people. Concentrated time is what lets that work reach the history underneath the argument instead of stopping at the surface of it.
RRIM™ may be used as a structured pattern recognition tool when useful. You do not need to learn the terminology. It means the work has a defined way of finding what keeps happening and where change needs to begin.
This is for couples who are not necessarily in an acute moment but already know one hour is not enough. It is structured, focused on patterns work designed to create recognition and direction, not two hours of venting.
UNDERSTAND WHAT BROUGHT YOU HERE
What happened, how long the pattern has been operating, what changed, and what accumulated over time.
IDENTIFY EACH PARTNER’S PATTERN
How each person reacts under pressure, what triggers the reaction, what each is trying to protect, and what happens when either of you feels unheard, rejected, controlled, abandoned, betrayed, powerless, or emotionally unsafe.
MAP THE RELATIONSHIP DYNAMIC
What happens when one partner’s pattern collides with the other partner’s pattern, and why the same argument, shutdown, pursuit, resentment, or distance keeps recreating itself.
SEPARATE THE CURRENT PROBLEM FROM OLD UNRESOLVED EMOTIONAL WOUNDS
Clarify what belongs to the relationship now and what may be amplified by older learned responses, fears, expectations, or wounds.
IDENTIFY THE STEPS NEEDED TO CREATE IMMEDIATE SHIFTS AND BEGIN STABILIZING THE RELATIONSHIP
Identify the first specific behaviors and changes designed to begin shifting the interaction immediately.
This is direction, not a guarantee of instant results.
YOU SHOW UP WITH
The real issue. Both perspectives. Honesty about what has been happening. A willingness to look at the pattern.
WE SHOW UP WITH
Structure. Pattern recognition. Focused questions. A framework for slowing the interaction down. A process for identifying what needs attention first.
“I feel like I learned so much on our first session already about the cycles that we both fall into over and over and why things aren't working and fall back into the same routine.”
“Working with her has completely changed our relationship for the better. Her guidance, compassion, and the tools she shares have helped us grow individually and together.”
Uninterrupted private time
Structured work focused on patterns
Relationship history and current dynamic
Immediate clarity about the next step
No follow up session included.
For some couples, more time is enough. For others, the relationship is already at a breaking point.
Every Unresolved Fight Leaves Something Behind.
For some couples, that accumulation becomes distance. For others, one major event changes the entire emotional temperature overnight.
For some couples, the damage has been building for years. For others, one significant emotional event completely changes the foundation of the relationship.
A recent betrayal or affair discovery
Separation or divorce conversations
Escalating conflict
One partner completely shut down
Trust has collapsed
Barely speaking or sleeping separately
If something significant has happened, the relationship is at a breaking point, and you believe the two of you need concentrated attention now, the 4 Hour Urgent Relationship Stabilization may be the better starting point.
Create enough stability and recognition to understand what happened, what is underneath it, and what must happen next.
MOVEMENT 1
Slow the escalation. Create enough structure for both people to be heard. Reduce additional damage. Identify what requires immediate attention.
MOVEMENT 2
Hear both versions. Understand the relationship history. Identify the event or accumulation of events that created the current temperature. Examine roles, expectations, unspoken rules, resentments, trust breaks, and unresolved moments.
MOVEMENT 3
Identify triggers, protective responses, and the meaning each person assigns to the other’s behavior. See how those responses reinforce each other. Separate what is happening now from older wounds and learned survival patterns. Identify which foundational pillars are collapsing.
MOVEMENT 4
Determine which behaviors need to change first. Establish concrete actions designed to begin stabilizing the interaction. Clarify which foundations need immediate attention and give the couple a clearer path after the intensive.
Recognition changes what becomes possible next.
Verified couple experiences
“My wife and I can't express how thankful we are for everything she's done. I've learned so much, and most importantly, I've been able to strengthen my relationship with my wife and our kids.”
Four private hours: concentrated time to stabilize, reconstruct, map, and clarify.
One online follow up: evaluate what changed, what did not, where the old pattern returned, and clarify the next stage of work.
Scheduled by phone: the protected block is arranged directly with the office at (562) 567-1930.
This is concentrated relationship stabilization. It is not emergency care and not a substitute for emergency or medical services.

It means slowing the freefall, understanding what is actually happening, reducing additional damage, and creating enough direction to know what needs attention first.
Nobody is pushed to stay or pushed to leave. The purpose is to help both people understand what is happening before making major decisions from emotional overload.
The goal of a concentrated session is not to magically solve the relationship in one day. It is to create enough recognition, clarity, interruption, and direction that the two of you can begin interacting differently immediately.
93%
Notice Change After Session One
This is for couples who already know that a one hour, two hour, or four hour format will not provide enough space to understand the history, the patterns, the damage, the identities each person brought into the relationship, the communication failures, and the decisions that brought them here.
DAY ONE

A couples intensive is a single block of concentrated private time with a Self Help LA practitioner instead of a standard one hour appointment. The extra time lets both partners be heard, lets us map the pattern driving the conflict, and lets us identify what needs to change first, without stopping just as the pattern becomes visible. Intensives are available at the Downey and Santa Ana offices and, where the format supports it, online across California.
